On 21st July 2024 peacefully at New Vista Rest Home aged 98 years.
Dearly loved Wife of the late Bernie.
Much loved Mum & Mother-in-law of Ross & Jenny, & the late Judith.
Loved Nana of all her Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren.
Friends are invited to attend a Service to celebrate Merle’s life in the Forrest Lawn Chapel, 208 Guyton Street, Whanganui, on Thursday 25th July 2024 at 2.00pm to be followed by a private cremation.

Merle is my first cousin but about fifteen years older. The Hingston family lived in Hawera but visited the Gerry family often. An early memory is of Merle with a tiny newborn daughter, Judith. How loving and doting Merle was to her newly-adopted little girl! I’m living in Alberta, Canada but it didn’t stop me from calling my dear “old” cuzzy every few months. My three siblings and I had a special love for Merle and Alec. We know that families are eternal and WILL meet up again.
